I once scored myself a free trip for one to Vienna, admittedly not the most glamourous of giveaways with economy tickets and a budget youth hostel to stay in but it was Vienna and it was free and I loved every minute of it. I remember when I went into see them to get my prize organised they told me they had enjoyed the three reasons I gave for wanting to go there so creativity definitely does pay in those scenarios.Elkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12742903389296438624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8128598650087737063.post-9732880606472421562009-07-02T22:37:52.356+10:002009-07-02T22:37:52.356+10:00I am definitely going to grab a copy of Denise'...I am definitely going to grab a copy of Denise's book. I hope the film means a whole new audience discovers her work, because it certainly inspired a spectacular movie.
I wonder, then, if the wonderful Maryanne character is based on Denise herself (sorry, I'm a bad fact/fiction/autobiographical speculator).
And yes, so refreshing to see such a strong child protagonist in a film. Can't wait to read the book.Rachel Powerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18076347414401820489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8128598650087737063.post-1700967591232624852009-06-30T16:32:00.056+10:002009-06-30T16:32:00.056+10:00Interestingly the Last Ride film, about fathering,...Interestingly the Last Ride film, about fathering, is adapted from Denise Young's novel, The Last Ride. She wrote it based on a couple of people she knew a long time ago, and it's a beautiful, sad and truthful book about a violent, misguided dad and a son who has to figure out the differences between right and wrong entirely on his own. Have rarely read such a convincing child point-of-view. Can't wait to see the film, which Denise has written about here: http://deniseyoung.com.au/film.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8128598650087737063.post-41292038316088974992009-06-29T19:05:31.271+10:002009-06-29T19:05:31.271+10:00Very, very nice shoes!Very, very nice shoes!Red Hen (dette)https://www.blogger.com/profile/09620943527844246297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8128598650087737063.post-16180501925286052822009-06-29T16:20:47.560+10:002009-06-29T16:20:47.560+10:00Yes, I've often thought I should bend my mind ...Yes, I've often thought I should bend my mind to those 25 words or less comps. My dad has a friend who is literally a professional quiz-enterer. She does everything she can get her hands on--from Women's Weekly crosswords to TV quiz shows. But she's retired, so it's icing on the cake, so to speak. She has won at least one car, though. Unfortunately I don't have a brain for trivia and would have no hope of getting my brain to work fast enough anyway, even if the knowledge was buried in there somewhere.Rachel Powerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18076347414401820489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8128598650087737063.post-18776807150493638472009-06-28T17:27:10.342+10:002009-06-28T17:27:10.342+10:00and she wrote jingles for advertising too I think....and she wrote jingles for advertising too I think.
